Wow - I was lucky enough to meet Zack Snyder, the director of Hollywood hits “300″ and “Dawn of the Dead” while he was in town yesterday to help promote his upcoming hit in waiting, “Watchmen”. Paramount Pictures held a sneak peak of various clips from the film, which is not released here until 5th March 2009, with Snyder explaining the thinking behind each scene.
This was a unique opportunity to gain a greater insight into how a big Hollywood director thinks and works and it was clearly evident that one of the most important ingredients to success is having a sense of humour. With the planning involved, constant meetings with big studio executives, casting actor/s, managing a set budget and several other factors playing a part in the success or downfall of a major film, Snyder seemed at ease when quizzed all things “Watchmen”.
Expect big things here - the special effects and action scenes really are quite extraordinary. Do you think the phenomenal success of Alan Moore’s graphic novel will transfer to the big screen?
