Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio bounce off each other in Body of Lies, a spy thriller directed by Ridley Scott.
Judging by the trailer, there’s some tense stand-offs between Crowe’s CIA boss Ed Hoffman and DiCaprio as Roger Ferris, a former journalist hired by the agency to track down a terrorist leader in Jordan.
And, as you’d expect from Scott, plenty of action and firepower.
It’s based on the novel by Washington Times’ foreign affairs journo David Ignatius and scripted by The Departed’s William Monahan.
Cinematical hailed the novel as “intelligent, plausible, and sometimes exciting,” which builds suspense to the climax when all hell breaks loose.
Here’s one intriguing point: The movie co-stars Carice Van Houten as Ferris’ seductive, manipulative wife Gretchen. It’s not clear whether it will also feature a humanitarian aid worker who has an affair with Ferris in the novel.
Body of Lies opens on October 9.
