Here’s one of the new characters in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Potions Professor Horace Slughorn (Jim Broadbent) with his star pupil.
After playing an academic colleague and friend of a certain Professor Jones in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Broadbent was a natural choice to don the robes, cap and tweed jacket as Slughorn.
Harry is holding the Potions book, which was first owned by the Half-Blood Prince, which he receives on the first day of school.
The vial evidently contains a small amount of Felix Felicis which Harry wins in a contest organized by Professor Slughorn.
For the uninitiated, Felix Felicis induces feelings of exhilaration and supreme self-confidence, but taken to excess it can be dangerous- even fatal.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens on December 11.
